Privacy Policy

Skyler (“Skyler”, “we”, “us”) is a study app from Skyler Studio. It turns your PDF notes into study sets and helps you practice, focus, and study with friends. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Skyler iOS app and the Skyler website at app.helloskyler.com.

Information we collect

• Account information. Your name, email address, and a securely hashed password, or the basic profile (name, email) Google shares if you choose “Continue with Google”.
• Content you add. PDFs you upload, the study sets and questions generated from them, and any edits you make.
• Study activity. Your answers, review progress, XP and level, focus sessions, lives and upload balances.
• Groups and messages. Groups you create or join, shared study sets, and chat messages you send.
• Purchases. If you buy Skyler Plus, Apple processes the payment. We receive purchase and subscription status (such as product and transaction identifiers), never your card or Apple ID details.
• Technical data. Basic device and connection details, such as IP address, used to keep the service secure and limit abuse.
• Advertising data. Our ad partner may collect device and ad identifiers when ads are shown (see “Ads”).

How we use information

• To create your account, sign you in, and send verification and password-reset emails.
• To generate study sets from your PDFs and grade your answers.
• To save your progress, run groups and chat, and show your stats.
• To provide purchases, subscriptions, and rewarded-ad refills.
• To keep Skyler secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal information.

Services we share data with

• Google Gemini (AI). Your uploaded PDFs, and your typed answers when we need to judge meaning, are sent to Google’s Gemini API to create questions and grade answers. We delete uploaded files from the AI service once processing finishes.
• Google AdMob (ads). Shows ads and rewarded ads in the free version.
• Apple. Handles App Store purchases and subscriptions.
• Google Sign-In. Only if you choose it.
• Email delivery. Our email provider delivers verification and password-reset messages.
• Other group members. Your display name, messages, and the sets you share in a group are visible to that group’s members.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Skyler and its users.

Ads and tracking

Skyler is free to use with ads. On iOS we ask for your permission before any tracking through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, and where required we show Google’s consent form. We request non-personalized ads. You can decline, and Skyler still works. You can change your choice any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Skyler Plus removes banner and sponsored ads.

How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete a study set it stays in Trash for 7 days, then is removed. Uploaded PDFs are used to generate your set and are not kept longer than needed. When your account is deleted we delete your personal data, except what we must keep for legal or security reasons.

Your choices and rights

You can edit or delete your study sets in the app. You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your information, or delete your account entirely, by emailing privacy@helloskyler.com from your account email. We will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, or California) you may have additional rights, and you can contact us to use them.

Children

Skyler is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections and hashed passwords. No online service is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International use

Skyler and its service providers may process data in countries other than your own. By using Skyler you understand your information may be transferred there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and change the effective date. If changes are significant we will tell you in the app.
